Why listening is an effective communication skill?

Notice you said skill. Many people hear others talking but they are too busy thinking about what they are going to say in response. They miss what the person is saying and thus, they are not communicating. I've been in meetings where someone had a great idea earlier and they just had to say it. All doing the meeting they looked for an opportunity to interject and show the client just how smart they were. The only problem was the client just spent 30 minutes explaining how he DIDN'T want the approach that this other person thought was brilliant. He wasn't listening to the client so he didn't know that it would have been better to just keep his mouth shut. In Japanese business culture if you respond too soon they question your intelligence because you haven't thought about their question.

It's about the body language the words have to match the language. If someone tell you that your well liked and they have a smirk in their face are they being sincere or sarcasted?Always have the ability to look a person in the eye.The eyes tell a lot about a person.

It is very rare these days, for one thing.

For another, very few people actually have someone who will skillfully listen to them — and a good listener can make the speaker feel valued.

a good listener is one who knows how to act with people and their emotions. it tells how much you are capable to listen to the person and act upon …….. in a day a person devotes and uses his energy in talking about how may his or day went or about such past experience or any issues they might be going through out….. just to get out that issue their way people just want to tell and get that burden out of them so it takes lot of patient to be a good listner….
