It comes together in a hilarious finale at tan all night bed hopping party.
dont you hate it when someone plays stupid games, like giving you the silent treatment?
Posted by: | Commentsif you do this crap, how the hell do you expect people to take you seriously? have you tried assertive communication?it works? anyone else experience this crap?
From want I've seen of your answers in the past, I find it hard to believe you are the type that would let someone do that.
But in general, it is very annoying when someone you know does that.
I'm getting it now from a girl here that I just meet, and thought was a good match, but now I don't get the time of day, so OH well!

Thesalesinterns.com episode #11: Training with Kylie

On the necessity of communication for sales. Warning: this episode is educational! Part of it even teaches subliminally!
Duration : 6 min 31 sec
I am 19 and do not know what to do in the future as I am shy and have poor social skills. I prefer to be alone and while I get excellent grades I know it is all meaningless without the interpersonal and communication skills that are needed for so many of the good paying jobs (eg becoming a doctor, pharmacist etc). That is my dilemma – what am I to do because the jobs that don't involve customer service do not pay nearly as well….. is there a solid career which pays well that does not require much interaction with customers? I am interested in the health care field or something similar.
I cannot imgaine myself becoming more assertive and confident as I have had a quiet personality my whole life and it is really starting to create problems for me know… Some days I feel depressed because by being so introverted I am missing out on living because it is holding me back from trying new things and being comfortable with myself…
I am 19 too, but I think if your lack of social skill is affecting you that much, see a counsellor or therapist about it.
ie. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
you are right. good communication and interpersonal skills are integral to many jobs, and relationships. we all need a certain social interaction to keep balance.
just becuase you have been that way all your life doesn't mean you still can't change. it is part of use to always keep changing and evolving as humans.
the only thing that prohibits this is your mind. if you think yo ucan't change, then that very first step thats required for change (mental willingness) will be working again'st you if you are negative. maybe thats why you haven't changed till now.
even if you gain the social skills, you will still probably prefer socializing in small groups, or one on one thats okay i am like that. there is nothing wrong with being introverted.
introverts can have good social skill too.
i was mostly scared because of fear of judgement. on what others would think.
but you can address these "fears" that are holding you back with a counsellor. if it's other things, well you're 19 so theres probably a whole lot of thing to go through, that you can't go through online.
i know i'm not answering yoour question, but i really think you're holding yourself back from pursuing things you REALLY want to do, (pretend social skills are NOT a problem for one minute) – what do you really want? a 2nd preference job cuz you can't be bothered with overcoming some obstacles?
i believe you should strive to improve your weaknesses because if you don't, they will only rule you. and how will it make the depressed periods become better? they would only become worse. you'd only be reinforcing any insecurity that make you "not have good communication or customer service skill."
so please do reconsider whether you want to do something actively about it or not.
you are only 19 and have your whole life ahead of you! go for your goals!
don't let yourself get older and realize…hey, i coulda changed if i wanted..i was still young.
we all have our own obstacles in life. other people may not have your problem but they have other problems they must work on to improve. we all have to work on SOMETHING.

What About Me, What Do I Want? Becoming Assertive
Posted by: | Comments
Learn practical tips and techniques for effective and assertive communication. This book is a practical and valuable resource for anyone who wants to improve their …
I personaly have a mental illness and I do like the way I am getting help from the government to some degree. But there are things that I dont agree with like not having a bigger say in what meds I take but honestly I am a fairly assertive person and have ok communication skills unlike alot of my fellow Gifted ones as I would call them. What is it that "normal" people fear so much about a person with say schizophrenia anyhow? Very rarely are people with mental illnesses actualy harmful to others mostly its just to are selfs. Dont I have the right to harm myself anymore if thats what I feel is right? Like the saying goes if you have a bad arm cut it off to save the rest of your body. Well if me as a mentaly ill person feels I have a bad arm dont I have the right to cut it off or no? I guess what im getting at is the fact that I kinda feel trapped in a system where my rights are slowly being taken away or maybe I am giving them away actualy its still sad either way.
The government does not want to help. What they want is for you to stay over medicated so that way you don't have feelings at all. I am bipolar and have post traumatic stress disorder. When I was 15 I was put into a mental institution for 3 months. At the end of the three months I was so drugged up I didn't even recognize my own face in a mirror. It was horrible. I continued on all the meds when I was discharged and all I can remember is being so stoned all the time I couldn't focus or learn at school. Once I finally stopped taking my meds (against my doctor's advice of course) I finally felt like a human being again. Almost 5 years later now I feel like I have a real grip on my own disorder without depending on drugs.
Continue counseling if it helps you but if you feel trapped into taking your meds than simply don't take them. You will probably feel better
